First time in NY & they filled my belly up real nice! Loved it! I had twice out of the 6 days i was there! They put a lot of food in each container, from smallest to biggest portion. Will be visiting again! Thank you!

I've been wanting to try Little Jamaica for a while now, and finally made it for dinner. This was a nice neighborhood place that looked quite inviting, except for the tiny parking lot.
As for food, I got a small plate, which came with rice and peas, cabbage, and plantains. As for proteins, they were out of jerk chicken, so I asked for "half and half" of stewed oxtail and curry goat. I also picked up a beef patty. I'm not quite sure how the pricing works, because even though the prices on the wall looked quite affordable, my total came to $18.xx. I guess instead of giving me "half and half" of two proteins, I was given a full portion each of my two protein choices and was charged for two separate meals.
First off, the stewed oxtail was pretty good. It was quite flavorful, although I was expecting it to be a bit more tender than it was. There was a lot of delicious fat on the meat which made for quite a satisfying experience. The curry goat was nicely flavored as well, but came in very small chunks of meat. The goat flavor was not as pronounced as I would have liked. And often I bit down on pieces of bone. Instead of making the curry goat as tiny chunks of goat with bone attached, it would be better to just have larger chunks of goat. The bones in the dish should be large enough for you to see, pick up, and gnaw on to get the meat off. I probably bit down onto a small piece of bone on at least five occasions even though I was pretty careful looking for them.
The plantains were a nice touch. They were not too greasy and had a nice sweetness that countered the rest of the hearty meal.
My main complaint with this place is the rice and peas. Somehow, it was flavorless. Yes, I do realize that rice does not have much flavor, but it should still be seasoned or have a nice aroma to not taste bland. You can't count on the sauces from the meat to give rice flavor.
As for the beef patty, they're just the usual Golden Krust patties you can buy in the frozen aisle of the store. They're baked and sold for $3 each.
Overall, I would return, although it was not quite as great as I had hoped. If the pricing was better, I'd be more inclined to return. I think my problem was ordering two separate meats and expecting them to charge me one price for a half-portion of two meats. Next time I'll just try to get a single protein and see if the price becomes more fair. -

Son told me to pick him up some Jerk Goat because they only make it on Saturdays. I got the Curried Goat & we split it. The seasoning is always on point.
But I have noticed they have been cutting the goat into smaller pieces. Only downfall. They also have started selling Roti along with their usual Coco Bread. -

This place closed. It is now some kind of juice bar. They sucked anyway. They give you very minimal meat. If you order a large oxtail, they are literally counting the oxtail and give you as little as possible... I stopped going there, and then the owners opened up a new location a few blocks away, which I went to twice and never returned... I prefer Jamaican Paradise in Copiague... their food is mostly great and large portions for the price you pay.

This was my back up spot to Faye's for years, Faye's is gone and with it my favorite jerk chicken and oxtail with rice n pigeon peas; I'm not in the area anymore but little Jamaica was a great spot to fall back on!
They are awesome there and always treated me good, I haven't been in some time now but I seem to remember them having a couple things that were hard to resist.
Tough to park in their little lot because this place loads up at the right time.
Everyone from the neighborhood seems to stop in around lunch time and the kids of this hot food pop up and down like it's a musical performance.
5 bucks goes a long way!
